footwear

BioPed sources fashionable, orthopaedic-quality footwear from around the world. A team of Canadian Certified Pedorthists rigorously assesses each manufacturer’s products against more than 30 criteria, ensuring that final selections are consistent with standards as governed by the Pedorthic Association of Canada (PAC).

Characteristics of orthopaedic-quality footwear should include:

  • A broad based sole system that supports heel, midfoot and forefoot – referred to as a motion control sole or stability sole system.
  • A broad and deep toe box.
  • Available in multiple widths.
  • Breathable, moldable and durable material.
  • Adequate density to provide necessary support.
  • Rockered (or easily rockered) sole.
  • Torsional stability.
  • Light weight.
  • Removable insole to accommodate orthotic if required.

BioPed Centres carry footwear in six categories. We are proud to highlight specific manufacturers whose products meet or exceed the standards of BioPed and the Pedorthic Association of Canada.
