What To Expect And How To Prepare For Your Visit (COVID-19 Update) – BioPed Footcare

If you are coming in for an appointment, you may notice a lot of new protocols that are being put in place to help keep you and our staff members safe! The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way that the world is operating. This is also true for what you can expect when coming in for an appointment. Don’t let this discourage you, because this blog post will walk you through all the steps and what you can expect when visiting your local BioPed Footcare clinic!

Before you even arrive at the clinic, our staff members will ask you a series of screening questions to ensure that you are healthy and not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. In preparation for your arrival, they are vigilantly sanitizing the entire premises. You have nothing to worry about, we sanitize the clinic between each patient and at the beginning and end of the day! One thing to note is that bathrooms are closed to patients and the general public, with the exception of emergencies.

Another thing we ask is that unless you need assistance or are a minor, please come to your appointment alone. This helps limit the people who come and in and out of the clinic and reduces the risk of potential exposures for our staff.

Be prepared to wear a mask, running buff or bandana to the appointment. You will be expected to wear it throughout the entire appointment, just like your clinician!

Now, when you arrive to your appointment, it’s best to arrive exactly at your designated appointment time and if you arrive early, feel free to wait in your car. In some cases, you may notice that the clinic entrance is locked. This DOES NOT mean we are closed! Please knock on the door upon arrival and a staff member will let you in. We strictly control the number of people in our clinics at any given time.

Next, once we are ready to see you, one of our staff members will again ask you a variety of COVID-19 screening questions. If it is determined that you are not having COVID-19 symptoms or at risk of carrying the virus, you will be invited in. We will then provide you with hand sanitizer and ask you to sanitize your hands before interacting with any of our footcare experts. Ensure you are wearing your mask when you enter the clinic.

The appointment with one of our footcare experts will be just as informative and interactive as they have been in the past, only with a few extra safeguards in place. You will notice they are wearing a variety of PPE – Personal Protective Equipment. This will include a mask, gloves, eye protection and even in some cases, a gown.

Safe precautions when maneuvering around the clinic include practicing physical distancing (staying 2 metres/6 feet away from others, unless you are being examined) and limiting the items you touch.  If you are interested in anything on the shelves, such as shoes or sandals, just ask a staff member for assistance – we are happy to help!

We hope that this guideline of expectations has helped you prepare for your visit at our clinics and given you peace of mind that we are prioritizing your safety! At BioPed Footcare, it is our priority to ensure that our patients and staff members are safe at all times. We know these times are hard, and getting used to the reality of COVID-19 is going to take some time, but with your efforts and our commitment to your safety, we will make it work!
