Frequently Asked Questions

What territories are available in Canada?

We are currently expanding through Western and Atlantic Canada. Please contact us for details regarding individual and master franchise opportunities.

Do you offer franchise opportunities outside of Canada?

At this time, we are not offering individual Clinic franchises outside Canada but will consider requests for Master Franchises to approved candidates or groups.

What if I’m not a Canadian Certified Pedorthist?

Many BioPed franchises are owned by multiple shareholders who have experience in other fields. You must however employ at least one Canadian Certified Pedorthist, Podiatrist or Chiropodist who will work in the Clinic a minimum of five days per week. Your selected professional must be in good standing with his/her respect College and professional association.

Is there an opportunity to visit one of your clinics personally?

Yes. Once a candidate has completed our Candidate Profile and Application form and is approved to move forward, a member of our Franchise Development team will arrange for a personal, guided visit through one of our clinics.

How long does it take to build a clinic from the date of signing a Franchise Agreement?

Generally, this can take anywhere from 90 – 120 days. The first important step is to find an appropriate location based on criteria developed by BioPed Franchising Inc. Once a lease is signed and the general contractor is hired, the build-out typically takes about 6 weeks.

Does BioPed provide any formal training in operating a clinic?

Yes. Initial training takes place in Oakville, Ontario and covers general operations, technology, consumer and medical marketing, inventory control, human resources and financials. While in the Toronto area, we also arrange for a minimum of 2-3 days to be spent on-site at one of our local clinics.

Clinical operations training for your Canadian Certified Pedorthist (whether a shareholder or employee) is also provided and covers the standards and processes required to operate a BioPed clinic.

Who is responsible for the costs to develop a clinic?

All costs are the responsibility of the franchisee.

How long does the application process take?

Once we receive your completed application, a thorough review is conducted, requiring approximately 3 weeks. A member of our Franchise Development team will contact you once you are approved to move forward with the process.

Am I committed to a formal agreement by submitting an application?

Absolutely not. Your application simply provides BioPed Franchising Inc. the opportunity to formally review your profile and financial position. There is no requirement nor commitment to move forward at the completion of this step.

In addition to the initial franchise fee, what are the on-going royalty payments to the franchisor and what kind of return can I expect?

Financial related information is only provided to candidates who have been approved for a BioPed franchise.

What is the term of the Franchise Agreement?

Ten years. Franchisees have the option to extend to a second term – also 10 years.
