Skin Care
You may suffer from dry skin or callused skin on the soles of your feet and if left unchecked can have serious consequences, especially if you have diabetes. Dry skin leads to breaking of the skin and can potentially lead to bacterial, fungal or viral infections. Foot callus’ (hardened skin) can occur when you have friction or pressure on certain areas of your foot. Areas of the foot that are not used to repeated pressure tend to harden or thicken as a defensive measure. Incorrect footwear is also a common cause of calluses on the soles of the feet and sides of the big toe. Our Footlogix® professional line of products can address your needs. Our clinical team can help you with the ideal solution for your skin condition.
Nail Care
The health of our toenails and what we put on them matters. Our Footcare Nurses or Chiropodists can help you with your regular nail care and provide recommendations on the healthiest products for your nails. Maybe you suffer from an ingrown toenail, hammer toe, sweaty feet or fungal infection, we can help.

Diabetic friendly footcare products
What are Diabetic Friendly Footcare products?
Did you know that several footcare products, such as over-the-counter corn removers, can be extremely dangerous for Diabetic feet? They have in some cases resulted in unnecessary hospitalizations, wounds and infections. There are foot products specifically designed with Diabetic footcare in mind. Diabetic Socks, for example, are non-binding, non-elasticized, to avoid constricting blood flow. Diabetic Footwear has little to no seams, to avoid rubbing that can unknowingly lead to ulcers. You can visit your local BioPed clinic or book an appointment to learn what is best for your feet.
Why do I need to use Diabetic Friendly Footcare Products?
Diabetes affects the nerve endings in your feet. This is called diabetic neuropathy. As a result, people with diabetes sometimes don’t feel the small cuts or blisters that a normal foot would feel. One important reason that Canadians with Diabetes end up in hospital is due to a having a minor cut or abrasion that has become infected and can sometimes be so severe that it requires amputation. Foot infections and amputations can often be avoided with proper preventative footcare by a Canadian Certified Pedorthist and a Registered Chiropodist.
