Bracing
Knee and ankle pain can have a variety of causes including arthritis, sports injuries, wear and tear, overuse and weight gain. If your pain is mild, moderate or severe and impacting your daily routine or activity level, bracing could be the right solution. Following injury, bracing can also provide athletes with greater stability and support in healing. Additionally, if you are wanting to delay surgery or are not a surgical candidate, bracing can offer support and pain relief. Bracing products come in over-the-counter and custom-made options which are fit by a BioPed certified and trained clinician. They are an excellent solution to manage pain, prevent injury and enhance performance.

Knee Bracing
When should I wear a knee brace?
A knee brace can be worn when you have a knee injury, instability or arthritis and can provide support during your recovery or activity. You may feel more confident and stable with a brace on and it may make simple daily tasks easier. Your Doctor or Nurse Practitioner may recommend or prescribe an over-the-counter or custom-made knee brace. If you’ve had an injury or suffer from pain, swelling or arthritis you could benefit from wearing a knee brace.
How does a knee brace help?
A knee brace can provide you with additional support and compression to relieve pain and swelling and provide some stability. There are many different styles of braces that offer varied solutions, sometimes targeted to a specific injury or ailment. Some knee braces are stretch sleeves that add compression and mild support. Other braces that are more rigid or custom-made will offer added support and a more tailored fit. It is best to visit with one of our Certified Bracing Clinicians to be assessed and measured for a knee brace. This will ensure that your knee bracing needs are being met with the right device and proper fit.

Ankle Bracing
When should I wear an ankle brace?
An ankle brace can be worn when you have an injury or instability and can provide support during your recovery or activity. If you have suffered a foot or ankle strain, sprain or fracture you may need a supportive device or brace to manage the pain, swelling or discomfort. Often these injuries are a result of a sports injury, but you don’t have to be an athlete to need an ankle support or brace. A prior lower limb surgery, improper footwear, history of a fall or other injury can add to your risk for ankle pain and joint damage. If you suffer from pain, swelling or instability you may benefit from wearing an ankle sleeve or brace.
